The Nike company was founded on January 25, 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight. And officially became Nike Inc. on May 30, 1978. The company takes its name from Nike, the Greek goddess of victory. NikeLab is a platform that speaks to, works with and forms connections to its innovators’ journey. Through its provision of access to a digital space that enables access to highly sought after and surprising products, NikeLab broadens its global network. While presenting a curated collection that has never before been seen or imagined, NikeLab is aimed at being a retail destination that sparks consumer discovery with their celebrated styles in unprecedented and unexpected ways. The reinterpretation of older styles through creative collaborations with creative partners have also been displayed. Innovation, where Nike is concerned, is not limited to but goes beyond the product itself. Taking inspiration from product design, Nike will bring its design principles to retail through ensuring maximum performance and aesthetics while having a low impact on the environment. At the forefront of Nike’s design stance is lightweight, functional and modular designs which are also influenced by the fixtures, materials used in the construction and functionality of spaces more generally.
