Favela Armchair
Designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana for Edra, the Favela Armchair is an iconic piece that transforms simplicity into extraordinary craftsmanship. Inspired by the improvised architecture of Brazilian favelas, the chair is constructed without an internal frame, using countless strips of natural wood that are individually nailed by hand in an intentionally irregular composition. As a result, each piece is entirely unique.
Balancing raw materiality with sculptural presence, Favela reflects the Campana Brothers’ distinctive approach to design, where spontaneity, craftsmanship, and cultural narrative converge. What appears effortless is in fact the result of meticulous handwork, requiring approximately one week of skilled craftsmanship to create. More than a seat, Favela is a collectible design object that celebrates imperfection, authenticity, and the beauty of the handmade.
